The Centre Mentor is responsible for the Management of our centre, the development of a high-quality program according to the Department of Education: South Africa and Genius Academy Group of Schools standards, establishing professional, positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues. To provide leadership to ensure the effective implementation of the curriculum in the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide input and support in day-to-day management of the school.
  • Maintaining a great culture, upholding company standards & values
  • Lead and manage a team of educators and support staff 
  • Engage parents, communicate and support their concerns
  • Client and intercompany communication
  • Provide input and support in financial and administration functions of the Centre
  • Stock purchase control
  • Comply with health and safety standards
  • Market and promote the centre, its programme and activities

Skill and Competencies:

  • A love for children that drives the work that you do
  • Comprehensive understanding of the curriculum;
  • Sound knowledge of the legislative and policy framework;
  • Understanding of the opportunities and challenges of leading and managing a school
  • Ability to sustain a child-friendly environment;
  • Ability to implement creative problem-solving strategies;
  • Ability to identify, collect and use data and evidence to inform planning;
  • Understanding of management of staff;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to mentor the subject/learning area heads of department and lead on staff training initiatives;
  • Strong administrative skills, particularly to time-tabling, admissions, registrations, and resources management;
  • Ability to work closely and positively with the local community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be computer literate (WhatsApp, Email, Excel and Word) and demonstrate the capacity to understand centre financial duties. 
  • Must be absolutely ethical in all dealings (parents, staff and financial matters)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 
  • Recognized qualification preferably in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, Business Management, or related field 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing a ECD Centre or Education Institution
  • Must be willing to obtain Health & Safety and First Aid certification within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Relatable experience in a management role – specifically in leading a function and/or team
