BOOKKEEPER / ACCOUNTS CLERK

Key Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for maintaining financial accuracy (targeting 98% accuracy in invoicing and fee collections ) and supporting overall financial compliance.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting principles.
  • Manage and oversee daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure all financial documents are accurate and up to date.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop budgets and financial plans.
  • Provide support during annual audits and tax preparation.
  • Assist with payroll processing and management.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
  • Ensure the timely resolution of all account queries (e.g., within 24 hours).

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar Accounts/Admin Clerk role (minimum of 3+ years proven experience ).
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Data Capturing, reconciliation, and managing creditor/debtor accounts.
  • Knowledge of local statutory requirements (e.g., SARS/tax procedures).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills (required for diverse staff and parents).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper or National Certificate in Bookkeeping/Accounting) is advantageous.
